Exceptional wedding professionals who have earned four or more of The Knot Best of Weddings awards are inducted into the prestigious The Knot Best of Weddings Hall of Fame.
In its seventeenth annual year, The Knot continues its long-standing tradition of supporting local wedding professionals with The Knot Best of Weddings 2023, annual by-couples, and for couples guide to the top wedding vendors across the country. To determine the winners, The Knot analyzed millions of its user reviews across various vendor categories—planners, venues, musicians, florists, photographers, caterers, and more—to find the highest-rated vendors of the year. These winners represent the best of the best wedding professionals that engaged couples should consider booking for their own unique weddings.
This year, The Knot Best of Weddings winners represent approximately the top five percent of local wedding vendors listed on The Knot. There were 1,600 new inductees into The Knot Best of Weddings Hall of Fame for 2023, out of hundreds of thousands of local vendors featured on The Knot.

1994
Our Founder Lisa Goodnight’s Humble Beginnings
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Lisa graduated from the Western School of Health and Business. After that, she served our country in the US Marine Corps. Her love for catering grew from helping out her granddad at his famous neighborhood restaurant, Eddie’s, in the historical Hill District of Pittsburgh. She would also help mom plan and host family gatherings. 1996
The Catering Journey Begins
Driven by her passion for catering, Lisa trained for over 5 years under several renowned celebrity chefs like Chef Ashley and Chef Jason Ellis of “Hell’s Kitchen”. Showing great skill, Lisa moved rapidly from an entry-level position to C.O.O.
2009
LG’s Magical Affairs was Founded
A seat at the table was not enough. Lisa wanted to be a chef in her own right. Gathering experience over the years, she founded LG’s Magical Affairs to great success, a luxury catering agency that is currently in its 15th year of operation.
2013
Ventured into Wedding & Corporate Catering
Lisa redefined the vision for LG’s Magical Affairs and focused more on upscale events. She added event planning and coordination to her list of services, which spurred the agency to nationwide success. She has helped organize high-profile events for celebrities like Trina Braxton, Erica Pickett of Love & Hip Hop, Ludacris, Bow Wow, T-Pain, and Ne-Yo, and athletes like Chris Webber and William Moore of the Atlanta Falcons, to name a few. 2015
Love Meets Catering
Lisa married her high school sweetheart, Gary Goodnight, who is now the executive chef and one of the major contributors to the success of LG’s Magical Affairs.
2017
The Company Goes Viral
Following an impressive repertoire built working with several celebrities, Lisa herself made a cameo appearance on Season 8, Episode 12 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta as the caterer for Kim Field’s “beat less” brunch. Today, Lisa is the preferred caterer on several upscale event lists, planning events for Fortune 50 and Fortune 500 companies, including Microsoft and Fox 5; prominent Atlanta physicians such as Dr. Antwan Treadway, DMD, and Dr. Portia Cater-Ellis; and also the best attorneys in Atlanta.
2023
A Legendary Name set in Stone
Formerly known as LVs Magical Affairs, the company has been renamed “LG’s Magical Affairs” with a new logo to match the rebrand. LG’s Magical Affairs is one of Atlanta’s fastest-growing catering services, now associated with the best vendors and employing top quality event planners and motivated team members.
